Shek TCM believes in seeing human as a whole, connecting with the nature and society. With the knowledge of both TCM and Occupational Therapy, the founder hopes to integrate these 2 holistic approaches to prevent, diagnose and treat diseases; improve and promote mental and physical health to enhance quality of life. Both treatment are holistic in nature but have different modalities. TCM uses herbal, acupuncture, tuina, cupping, guasha, etc., while Occupational Therapy uses everyday activities, or occupation that is meaningful to the individual as modalities.
Engaging Shek TCM, client may expect a variety of treatment mainly acupuncture, chinese herbal medicines, fascia activation/release, emotional release, simple exercises and meaningful activities according to assessment and needs. Due to unique services provided, Shek TCM only cater to housecall visit at the moment.
Physician Shek is both a MOH registered TCM physician and AHPC registered Occupational Therapist. She has 20 years of healthcare experience as an Occupational Therapist in various field such as Hand in Hand OTC, SGH, Singapore Association for Mental Health-Activity Hub@Pelangi Village, IMH, Bright Vision Hospital, Assisi Hospice, PCF Sparkle Care Day Rehab and Alexandra Hospital. Having these clinical experience gives a general understanding of what patients go through in Singapore medical healthcare system while working as a TCM physician for the past 6 years at Singapore Chung Hwa Medical institution, Sin Kang TCM, Kin Teck Tong TCM and Guo Tai TCM rehab and wellness. Her speciality is in using minimal needles in acupuncture to achieve greatest results, along with fascia activation/release, simple exercises and necessary chinese herbal prescriptions. She also likes to give advices on how to adapt everyday activities to prevent physical pain from relapse.
